The European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) was founded 40 years ago and is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in organ transplantation. Facilitating a wealth of international clinical trials and research collaborations over the years, ESOT remains committed to its primary aim of improving patient outcomes in transplantation. With a community of over 8,000 members from around the world, ESOT is an influential international organisation and the facilitator of the biennial congress which hosts approximately 3,500 experts who come to meet to explore and discuss the latest scientific research. ESOT attracts the foremost transplantation experts to work in its committees and sections. ESOT works with leading transplantation experts and supports research, education, and European policy changes.

- To promote sustainable scientific advancement through multidisciplinary communities of healthcare professionals
- To deliver first-class education, training and career advancement opportunities to all healthcare professionals, with specific training programmes for low-income countries
- To work with partner organisations, professional bodies, and competent authorities to improve public and institutional awareness of organ donation and the latest research in the field
- To develop and promote policies for equitable access to transplantation and related therapeutic strategies

| L’ESOT et la SFT : un partenariat fructueux ! En tant que président élu de l’ESOT, je tiens à saluer l’évolution très positive du partenariat entre l’ESOT et la SFT depuis la signature de notre protocole d’accord en 2023. Cet accord a posé les bases d’une collaboration structurée, favorisant des échanges réguliers et la mise en œuvre d’initiatives conjointes concrètes. Nos deux sociétés relaient désormais mutuellement leurs événements, webinaires et appels à résumés via leurs canaux de communication respectifs, ce qui permet d’élargir notre audience, notamment dans les régions francophones. Sur le plan scientifique, la dynamique est encourageante : la participation française au congrès ESOT 2025 est en nette hausse, avec la France parmi les cinq pays ayant soumis le plus grand nombre de résumés. La SFT a également incité ses membres à s’impliquer davantage dans la gouvernance de l’ESOT, ce qui se traduit par une augmentation des candidatures françaises pour les Sections, les Comités et le Conseil. Un autre levier important pour renforcer cette dynamique est le soutien à la jeune génération. L’ESOT dispose d’un système compétitif et attractif de bourses destiné à encourager la participation des jeunes professionnels aux congrès, formations et stages scientifiques ou cliniques en Europe. Nous espérons que de nombreux jeunes membres de la SFT saisiront cette opportunité. Nous explorons également de nouvelles pistes de collaboration prometteuses : co-organisation de webinaires éducatifs, développement de programmes d’échange entre centres de transplantation, adaptation en français de documents de consensus, sans oublier des initiatives tournées vers les patients – comme des webinaires ou balados en langue française. Ce partenariat, fondé sur une vision partagée de l’avenir de la transplantation, renforce la visibilité et l’implication des professionnels français à l’échelle européenne, tout en créant des opportunités de collaboration concrètes et enrichissantes pour nos deux communautés. In alignment with the ESOT Congress 2025 theme, ‘Nurturing a Sustainable Transplantation Journey’, ESOT is dedicated to promoting practices that are sustainable, ethical and accessible for future generations.
To honour these efforts, we are pleased to introduce the brand-new Transplantation Sustainability Award. The winner will receive €3,000 and the opportunity to submit their work for publication in Transplant International. Abstracts that contribute to advancing sustainable transplantation practices are eligible for this award.
